How I Cleared my Adult Acne
At age 31, I still struggle with acne. It's not super intense acne, but it's noticeable enough to make me insecure and for others to notice. In addition to suffering from adult acne, I'm a picker. I can't help myself. And if you put on one of those YouTube videos of people popping pimples, it's game over. I fall deep into the YouTube rabbit hole and watch as many as I can find. I find it addicting and oddly therapeutic when I get a blemish out, but it's AWFUL for my skin and I HATE that I do it. It's turns noticeable acne into couldn't-pay-someone-to-miss-it red spots on my face. Which then may turn into scars. Luckily I don't have a ton of scars, but I do some and I have a couple of sun spots that lightened via a peel I had done back in May, but we all know with average sun exposure those come back. Avoiding the sun daily isn't an option (nor is it totally healthy, hellooooo vitamin D!), especially with kids, so I needed something that would stay on top of the darker spots daily in addition to my adult acne in addition to visiting my aesthetician (who is a big Vivant fan by the way and is how I originally heard about them).
I have tried so many different routines, brands, facials, diets, etc., thinking one day there won't be anything to pick, but nothing ever worked. That day seemed like it would never come, until now. I have been using Vivant Skincare for several months now and let me tell you, aside from the 1-2 hormonal pimples a month, my skin is clear. There is nothing to pick! R.I.P. pimple popping obsession, you have no place in my life anymore. My new motto is to invest in your skin instead of investing in makeup to cover your skin! The routine that got me on the right track:
- Mandelic Acid 3-in-1 Wash
- Skin Nourishing Toner
- Bleaching Cream Level 1
- Allantoin Sedating & Hydrating Lotion
Additional steps I've been taking to make sure my skin stays clear and smooth:
- Wash hands frequently, especially before washing face
- Clean cell phone with alcohol wipes every day to keep bacteria off phone & face
- Drink a gallon of water a day (this is intense if you don't drink a lot of water already so be prepared to burn extra calories running to the restroom all day long)
- Wear sunglasses religiously to avoid squinting which encourages crows feet
My Before and After
I know what you're thinking, the before is in dark light and the after is in brighter light. You can still see the uneven skin tone and spots from picking on my face in the dark light. When my skin gets like that, the LAST thing I want is a photo of myself.
The second photo is in natural light which is always better for photos and shows that I was actually in the mood for a photo because I felt great about how my skin looked. For reference, the only makeup I used that morning was an eyebrow pencil, mascara and chapstick! There is nothing on my skin and it FEELS GREAT! My skin tone is more even than it's ever been and pimples, red spots and picking are a thing of the past!
